You May Not Be In Hell, But It Might Feel Like It Mar 08 2009
"Saying with a loud voice, 'Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honor, and glory, and blessing.'" - Revelation 5:12
Each week, in churches all over the land, Christians gather to worship the Lord. Most churches will use choirs and bands and voices to praise God. We Christians have gotten really good at making a joyful noise unto the Lord, that's for sure! Now, I know some of you really don't care to go to worship. It bores you. You're not into it. You're there because your spouse or parents nagged you into submission, laid on the guilt trip, and dragged you there under duress. You show up under protest and just don't like the whole scene.
Okay, here is something for you to chew on. If you really aren't into worship, gathering with other believers, and praising God, you're not going to enjoy heaven very much. As a matter of fact, it's going to be hell for you! That' because the main activity in heaven is praising God and worshiping the Lord. So, if you don't care much for weekly worship, it might really tell you where you're headed! You might want to give that a little thought!

Yes, report it NevermindThis is a really good devotional. I enjoy the services of my church and I really love our pastor and my Sunday school teacher. I have some words of enouragement to worshippers. I love going to church butsometimes I have a hard time getting ready to go. After I get going and get to church I find that it refreshes me.

Yes, report it NevermindMany years ago, perhaps 55, the Sunday newspaper Roto Gravure insert (the equivalent of Parade Magazine), published the results of a survey regarding church attendance. A significant number of people reported that they felt significantly better about themselves and their day, attributing it to having attended church.

Yes, report it NevermindBut Bryant, I can't sing a lick....
Seriously, I think today's devotional might lead one to have too simplistic a view of Heaven.
Can you relate to any of the following feelings: The love you felt for your spouse on the day of your marriage. The joy and wonder of holding your new born baby. The comfort and security as a child when you hurt yourself and a parent held you in their arms and comforted you. Having your breath taken away by the most beautiful sunset of the year. The explosion of joy of 70,000 people when they see their team score the winning touchdown with one second to go. The humble gratitude when someone is totally and unexpectedly generous to you. The warm fellowship of sitting and talking to your best friend for hours and hours. You get the idea.
Now, take those feelings and multiply them a million times fold, and you might have just a glimpse of how you will feel in Heaven. The complete joy, peace and security of eternal worship and fellowship with our LORD. Having every question answered and every tear wiped away. Praise God, what a promise we have!

Yes, report it NevermindI tend to agree with Grant on this one. I don't personally think that heaven is just praising God. Sure, that will be constantly happening, but I think that it will be more. Have you ever read the book "Heaven" by Randy Alkorn? It really explores some possibilities of what heaven may be like. I don't know how much of it is actually true, but it really makes you think (and yes, it is Biblically based :)

Yes, report it NevermindGreat devotional. My view of Heaven is based on scripture only but I did like a cartoon I once saw where two guys in Heaven were walking around in their business suits talking about how great Heaven is and one says to the other, "...but the thing I like best is being able to wear flip-flops all the time!" I do think this points out that we can dream about or fantasize about how Heaven will be but we only KNOW by what the scriptures tell us.
