The Evidence of Things Not Seen Dec 11 2009
"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." - Hebrews 11:1
We pride ourselves in being logical creatures who demand proof before believing most things. Yet, a professor can tell us that there 100 trillion stars in the sky, and we accept it without question. We accept as absolute fact that an atom has neutrons and electrons spinning around a nucleus, even though we have never seen any of them. We know that light travels 186,000 miles a second even though we've personally never measured it. And we agree that Lincoln wrote the Gettysburg Address, and that E does, in fact, equal mc2. We accept all these things as facts without ever demanding the proof of their authenticity.
Yet so many of us will reject Jesus - risking our eternal souls even when presented with solid proof. What proof? The witness of thousands of people who saw the miracles of Jesus. Testimonies from dozens who witnessed His death, then saw Him alive after His resurrection. And what about the fulfillment of prophecies concerning Jesus? Yet even after being shown so much solid evidence, many enlightened, logical people reject Jesus as "just some myth for the gullible." In fact, the divinity of Jesus is just about the only thing people refuse to accept, even when evidence is overwhelming. Tell me, where’s the logic in that?
What about you? Are you willing to accept the truth of Jesus on faith? In fact, it's the ONLY way you can accept Him. So, go ahead, take that leap of faith. Once you do, your life will be changed forever.

Yes, report it NevermindA Sermon Walking
In 1953 reporters gathered at a Chicago railway station waiting to meet the 1952 Nobel Peace Prize winner.
He was a big man, six-feet-four tall with bushy hair and a large mustache.
Reporters were excited to see him and expressed what an honor it was meet him. Cameras were flashing, compliments were being expressed—but seeing beyond the adulation the visitor noticed an elderly Afro-American woman struggling to carry her two large suitcases.
"Excuse me," he said as he went to the aid of this woman. Picking up her cases, he escorted her to a bus and then apologized to the reporters for keeping them waiting.
The man was Dr. Albert Schweitzer, the famous missionary-doctor who had invested his life helping poor and sick people in Africa.
A member of the reception committee remarked to one of the reporters, "That's the first time I ever saw a sermon walking."

Yes, report it NevermindElectrons spin around neutrons actually. But that is not what is important. What is important is that nobody has a problem believing that there are trillions of stars, that atoms contain sub-atomic particles, etc...and yet you refuse to believe that the Virgin Mary appears to people and gives them guidance! What about all the eye witnesses? Surely they must not all be liars?
And what about the Greek gods? Thousand saw them, and wrote about them and their lives and deeds. Are you going to deny Zeus and put your mortal body and eternal soul at risk?
I hope not. I'll be praying to Zeus that you believe before it's too late.

Yes, report it NevermindPS: If you like Albert Schweitzer, I recommend reading his book, "The Quest for the Historical Jesus", in which he shows how very little we know about Jesus.

Yes, report it NevermindHonest and heartfelt thanks to you, Graced.
I'd like to comment more often but have been asked not to by RFTH.
That's probably for the best anyway. Leaves more of me for the rest of the world to enjoy.

Yes, report it NevermindThe Hound of Heaven continues to pursue you, Erik. Like I said in the previous entry, you think you are choosing to come to this web site. God is actually drawing you here and I believe that I will see you in heaven someday. I was where you are 30 years ago and now on the other side of salvation can see how deluded I was. Praise be to God for His faithfulness!!!!
