Nothing Is Impossible With God Aug 15 2010

"For nothing is impossible with God." - Luke 1:37

Jesus born of a virgin? Many sophisticated minds classify such claims as preposterous, right alongside other legends and myths. The virgin birth may seem like a tabloid headline: "Teenage Virgin Claims God is the Father." A virgin birth does make a good story, but it is often impossible for a rational person to accept.

But think about what it means if you do accept the virgin birth. It means you believe that nothing is impossible with God. Right now, you may be facing some real trials and struggles in your life and see no possible way to deal with those issues. If you can believe in the virgin birth, you can easily come to the realization that nothing is impossible with God! There is no problem, there is no hardship; there is no difficulty that is too tough for God.

Realize that if you choose not to believe in the virgin birth you're going to miss out on the true nature of Jesus Christ. Because if Jesus was not born of a virgin, the only conclusion you can draw is that he was just a man - a good man, but just a man. If you reject the virgin birth, you have chosen to believe in a mighty small God. But our God resurrected a man from the dead, so what's the big deal about a virgin birth? Remember, nothing is impossible with God.

I will never really understand why it is such a stretch to believe the ONE who created the universe would have such difficulty implanting a child in a womb. There was a time when the idea of test tube babies invtro fertilization, cloning, etc. would have been laughable notions. Scientists have confirmed virgin births in the animal world but don't believe it is possible in humans, but at one time would have also scoffed that such a thing could possibly happen in the animal world. God's creation is truly amazing and is always a source of mysteries and surprises. God bless

Jesus knew who his Father was. It never says that Mary and Joseph told him, but you would expect that they did.

Just like most lies I imagine some myths have a thread of truth in them. And I take it you do know about virgin births in animals being confirmed by DNA right. Even fairly recently it was confirmed in a shark at a Omaha Zoo. Anyway, again my point is just that the Creator, the Lord God Almighty, certainly can handle a virgin birth. Again, new discoveries all the time of His great works. You'll have to carry on this argument with yourself now. I was making a comment on the devotion, not debating. Thanks RFTH for keeping all of us, including myself more accountable to a reasonable amount of comments on each devotion. God bless

I did want to make it clear before anyone said otherwise that I'm not saying that I believe in any of the myths about other gods, just that they like a lot of lies or fake religions try to mimic and take some truths in order to deceive others. So if someone tries to twist my words hopefully the rest of you will know what I'm trying to say. Now looking foward to tomorrow's devotion. God bless

Problem is, CF, these other myths and legends you believe in came FIRST, before your particular myth and legend of choice. Christianity, and specifically, the virgin birth, was a borrowed concept from Greek and Roman mythology. Everyone knows this, except for the people that actually think their own myths and legends are true of course.

CF, you are talking about parthenogenesis, a form of asexual reproduction that always results in a female. Jesus was a guy right? I don't think Jesus was made by parthenogenesis. In the mammal world, experiments with mice and monkeys often results in abnormal development.

Lost another point? I guess you are “moving on”…

I totally agree with you that Jesus was not born by parthenogenesis because as you know we believe GOD is HIS Father and Mary was a virgin because she was never touched by a man prior to His birth. I only brought that up to begin with because some people don't even know that there is such a thing as virgin births in nature. I PRAISE the LORD that as the creator of ALL things that HE is not bound by these things and that as the devotion says Nothing Is Impossible With God! And yes I'm moving on, but still praying for you.

CF, as I pointed out, there have been dozens upon dozens of examples of legends throughout history where prophets and gods were born of virgins. I've yet to hear of a reasonable explanation as to why YOUR particular legend is true, and the other plethora of virgin birth legends are all false.

They are all false.

Moving right along...
