Birth Announcement Dec 18 2007
"...you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins." - Matthew 1:21
One type of letter we often get in our household is a birth announcement--someone announcing the birth of a child---a wonderful time of celebration and excitement. But when Jesus Christ was born, the ultimate birth announcement came straight from heaven when God, through His angels, said, "Today in the city of David has been born for you a savior who is Christ the Lord."
You may ask, "Why do I need a Savior?"
God's Word is clear that we need a Savior because all of us sin, and in the process, find ourselves separated from God. If we die separated, that means hell...and that's bad news. But Christmas is about good news, because Christ came to pay the penalty for our sins so that we could be forgiven and made right with God. For those who believe, He saves us from sin and, ultimately, hell...and that's pretty important.
As you rush around getting ready for Christmas, remember why He came and believe it. That's the key to having a Merry Christmas.

Yes, report it NevermindThis is very applicable to me especially on this day as it is really my birthday.
Birthdays have deteriorated from presents and cakes into alcohol and vomit as we grew up. I was rather lost, pondering on the meaning of birthdays when this popped up in my facebook profile.

Yes, report it NevermindWelcome, Maggie! I, too, have a December birthday and it use to make me very unhappy because I would get combined birthday/Christmas gifts and there would be Christmas activities interfering with any birthday celebration. But as I grew closer to God and Jesus I realized just how special and wonderful it is to celebrate the beginning of my life during the Christmas season. Your December birthday is a special gift from God that not too many people have been given. Enjoy your day within the blessings of the season!

Yes, report it NevermindThank you God for allowing the son that you made to be killed by the people that you made so save them from the hell that you made.
We really appreciate it.

Yes, report it NevermindErik - can you stop with your sarcastic views on this web site. Don't subscribe or read these daily devotions, if all you can do is be negative and angry. let those that find peace and get something out of them, enjoy them without your vitriole.

Yes, report it NevermindI find it sad that Erik for the most part appears to want to view others faith in a negative way. I for one will view it as an opportunity(i.e. positive) to pray that Erik may experience the Glory of God and thus His Grace and Truth. Merry CHRISTmas to all!!

Yes, report it NevermindErik, Your comment shows me that you have sympathy for Jesus that He had to suffer death on the cross. Also you recognize the sinfulness of mankind that would act as a murderous mob to call for the crucifixion of Jesus, and you believe in hell that people need to be saved from which requires action on God's part to save us. You have a different way of expressing the route of salvation but it is there in your words. It is only your thanks that needs to be sincere. If I were God I would not have chosen the cross but it is God's way and I accept it and I do give Him thanks. He loves you, Erik, even as you disrespect Him.

Yes, report it NevermindCouldn't help but get involved in this thread...but first Happy Birthday Maggie, and Janice, and me too! :-) Secondly...Eric, I honestly thought you were being honest with your words. Only after others pointed out your sarcasm did I realize that you didn't mean them. But then again, as I always say, God created all kinds...some were created so we'd have the opportunity to "forgive." After all...if we don't learn to forgive, and practice it, how can we expect to be forgiven? Personally, I'm struggling with the doctrine of the "Trinity" these days...but I wouldn't think of offending anyone that believes in that concept. Freedom of Choice is what this war is all about. It started with the war in Heaven...and continues today. Freedom to choose between good and evil, God and satan, Freedom (America) or Slavery (Taliban). Why do I need a savior? Because I always fall short. Merry Christmas and thank God for our Troops who are willing to defend Eric's right to express himself freely, to the death. Blessed Be.

Yes, report it NevermindErik - God didn't make hell. He didn't "make" Jesus either. Jesus always existed. Also - he doesn't send people to hell - people choose to go there when they reject God. You obviously read parts of the Bible, but your heart is clearly not open to the message.
