The Basics of Money Management Dec 28 2007

"For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." - Luke 12:34

Let's talk about the basics of successful money management. Jesus says we have to choose where we put our trust. He says we have to choose between God and money.

God helps us master our money, rather than letting money master us, and He does it through these principles:

* Spend less than you earn. Know where you stand with what you have and where you spend it.

* Develop a budget plan. A good budget has five key considerations:

1. Giving to God. - Begin here. Giving first shows you trust Him, and not money.

2. Savings and Investments. - This helps with short-term surprises and long-term needs.

3. Taxes. - God's Word tells us to pay what we owe.

4. Fixed Expenses. This includes things like mortgage, utilities, cars, etc.

5. Discretionary Spending This includes entertainment, clothes, furniture, etc.

God's ways for basic money management...they work.

Yes, report it Nevermind

Money management is a problem at one time or another in all of our lives but we need to remember to give God his part back first and then it will be easier to take better care of the rest of our money. There was a time when I was making good money but it didnt go very far then I began to tithe the right way and then God blessed me to be able to have money left over. If you dont think you can afford to tithe, well I cant afford not to tithe. God is good to his children.

I spend my money on liquor and women. The rest I just waste.

God doesn't have to allow us to have money; He doesn't owe us anything. I'm having to learn to use the resources He's given me better. After all, why am I here? To love Him and to grow close to Him. He has to be first in every area of my life. That includes how I spend money - ouch. That's hard. There are ways to reach out to others using the resources He's given me; ways that He can affect others through my giving. Who am I to refuse Him the use of my resources? They're not mine anyway...

religous people are such control freaks. you must obey god. you must do what god says. you must tithe. churches are just businesses doing what they can to survive just like your local mini mart.

OK, just keep wasting your money and putting your trust in money and not in God and see where it gets you. It won't take you long to get there. That's a rap.
