Sex in Marriage

"Marriage is to be held in honor among all, and the marriage bed is to be undefiled; for fornicators and adulterers God will judge." - Hebrews 13:4

How's your sex life?

Have you bought into the idea that the best, most enjoyable, most intense sex is always found outside of marriage? We are constantly bombarded with this message by TV, movies, books, and songs.

This message is a lie. It is the opposite of what God had in mind when He invented sex. Any sex outside the context of committed love in marriage is always less than the best. It brings emotional harm, broken relationships, turmoil, and guilt. That might sell movies and books, but in the end it destroys a person's life. God intended sexual intimacy to be His great gift for marriage and marriage alone. He knows how it is best enjoyed.

Seek to trust the inventor of sex to experience the sacred enjoyment God has in mind for you. Quit settling for second best. Seek God's best for the best sex.

We live in a time when people are searching for something better and allways thinking that the grass is greener on the other side of the fence. I have counseled alot of people that are guilty of adultry and all of them have admitted that what they had at home truly was best and they had ruined their marriage because they thought they wanted the excitement of going somewhere else for pleasure. God set up the marriage idea as one man and one woman and that is how it should be even today. - Jerry H Barrett

Jerry, I agree with you. When you are married, sex outside your marriage may bring someone temporary pleasure, but that will be followed by a much longer period of regret. Most people do not seem to know what true love in marriage really means. Being in love is very different from truly loving someone. If you love your spouse genuinely (instead of being in love, which is a condition that only statistically lasts about a year to a year and half at the beginning of a marriage according to some spiritual teachers and psychologists)then you would not feel the need to commit adultery. Notwithstanding my point above, one could argue that God has endowed us with such a strong sex drive that many just cannot handle this. - Frits

Good morning Fritts,
As a young boy both of my parents taught me about sex being for marriage. My wife and I are about to celebrate our 27th anniversary and the best part about that is both of us can say we have never been with anyone else and we dont want anyone else. I know this may sound unreal in the time we live but it is. I believe God will bless those who pays attention to what the scriptures says and do it.
I hope you have a blessed year. Take care. - Jerry H Barrett

Hi Jerry, it appears that you and I might be exceptions. My wife and I are into our 44th year of marriage and trust each other completely. I hope that you too will experience a good, happy and blessed 2008 - Frits
