Spiritual Wimps Feb 04 2008

"He must be one who manages his own household well, keeping his children under control with all dignity..." - 1 Timothy 3:4

Where are men the biggest wimps?

It often amazes me that men who are good athletes, or who pride themselves on hard work and self-reliance, are absolute wimps when it comes to fulfilling God's calling of being the spiritual leader in the home. Many macho men are classic spiritual wimps in this area. They look at religion and church as mostly women's stuff and often rely on the wife and mother to fill the void of spiritual leadership in the family. The guys simply wimp out.

But Scripture is clear. The father is to have this major responsibility. There is no doubt that a primary reason for the disintegration of the family is that so many men are spiritual wimps rather than spiritual leaders.

If you're a husband or a father, stop wimping out on what it means to be a man in God's eyes. Ask the Lord for guidance for what it means to be a spiritual leader. Come on men, rise to the challenge! The future of our land is depending on you.

I've listened to your messages (however quick they may be) on the radio. I agree with all that I've heard.

The ones that really struck me were about the Spiritual Wimps and how men are not stepping up as the Spiritual Leaders they should be.

I recently took over a body of UMM folks.

I hope that you are doing well

The way we 'do church' in America todsy appeals much more to women than men. If you're interested in this topic I recommend reading the book Why Men Hate Going to Church by David Murrow

I took this personally. As if this was meant just for me. Thank you! I needed this to make me realize what I had all along...my faith. Therefore, I've decided to return to the fold, to return to that which rings true to my heart and soul...to return to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints! Thank you!! Amen!

When the Bible speaks of the man being the spiritual leader of the house too many men use this to try to abuse and dominate the household. This is not what God is speaking about. We men are to lead by example not by speech. This is what GodS word says not man. If we do things the way we are supposed to our lives would be better off. Adam messed up and since then man has been following in his footsteps ever since.

Sister, I can tell you have a heart for Christ that is no doubt due to your love for him. I pray that you will come to know the *true* church of Jesus Christ that was established and written down shortly after his resurrection. You do not need the LDS church, or the books created from the mind of Joseph Smith some 1,800 years later to find the real Jesus. The bible is sufficient.
