Life's Storms
"They cried to the Lord in their trouble, and He brought them out from their distress; He made the storm be still." - Psalm 107:29
By this time, you have probably figured out that life is not free of challenges. Difficulties and even tragedies are to be expected. As a matter of fact, Jesus told His disciples, "Take courage. There are many storms in this life. But take heart, I have overcome the storms and the world."
Whenever you face a storm, your first urge may be to scream, "Why?" Certain storms do come into our lives because of our own sin, but many storms occur when we're right in the middle of God's will. We're not doing anything wrong. We're doing what God wants us to do. Certainly, that was the case for the disciples. Jesus told them to get into the boat and row across the Sea of Galilee. They were obeying Jesus when they suddenly found themselves in a horrific storm. It was so bad they didn't even know if they'd survive. But here is the important message from that event - they did survive. With the help of Jesus, they did survive.
Accept the fact that your life will not be a perfectly smooth ride. The road will sometimes have bumps and potholes and sharp turns. All roads do. Look upon these tragedies and difficulties as part of life. Turn to Jesus for guidance and He will be beside you as you ride out your storms.

There are times when we all have storms in our lives, some are small storms and then there are times when they seem like a class five hurricane. My family has just went thru one of those storms recently. My Mother in law is near death, my Stepdad just passed away, and I had two new Grandchildren born. My Daughter in law had severe complications and we almost lost her and our Granddaughter, all this in the span of one month. Both was in intensive care for 2 1/2 weeks and were touch and go the whole time. Our Grandson was in intensive care and had to have surgery, and thru all of this Christ was there all the time and he did calm the storm, all is well now but my Mother in law is still in bad shape. She has lived 86 wonderful years and will turn 87 Aug 2nd. We are going to make it with the Lords help and it is great to know he promised to see me thru my problems. God bless all and have a good day. - Jerry
It is such a blessing that the stormy times can draw us closer and closer to God and Jesus. He is the mighty reliable anchor to keep us from being washed away by life's storms. He gives us good reason to give thanks even during the worst of times for He is an ever present help in times of trouble. Jerry, I am so thankful that you and your family have come through all that storm of infirmaties with God's assistance. What an awesome God to know He can be so many places at the same time and always doing good! - Janice
It is well with my soul. This devotion came right on time as I do know that God is in the midst of it all and I am learning to "Be still and know that HE IS"! Thank you and have a God filled weekend!

Wow...Storms are surely a part of life...If we can keep our eyes and hopes on Jesus as Peter did when he got out of the boat and walked on the water. The moment he looked at the waves crashing, the deep water, his apparent circumstances...fear not faith, fear overtook him and he fell in the water. Jesus in his mercy still rescued Peter. I think we often look at our circumstances and fear begins to sink us. If we can keep our eyes on Jesus our hopes on the promises of His word for Jesus is the word...we also can experience the miraculous power of God, His provision, His protection...not the natural but the supernatural. What a mighty God we serve...Hold fast to the promises of your Father. He will never leave you or forsake you ever no matter what it is that you may face. Keep your eyes on Jesus and you too can walk on water and not be effected by your circumstances, the raging storm, the crashing waves. Be still and Know that He is God...He is there with you...now and forever...Peace be still...He is faithful... - Mary Ellen
