Taking Care of Ourselves
"Let your fountain be blessed, and rejoice in the wife of your youth." - Proverbs 5:18
One of the things my wife, Anne, shares with the women in our church is how every spring some women are in a dither as they try on a new swim suit. The process reveals to them that they are just not quite in the shape they want to be, and for some, this revelation is emotionally devastating! But Anne reminds them that their husband sees them 365 days a year. "You shouldn't be worried about swim suit season," she says. "You ought to be thinking about how you look every day your husband sees you."
Anne's advice applies equally for the husband as it does for the wife. We must all take care of our bodies, not just because our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit; not just because it's better for our health and fitness; but also, it's a whole lot better for our spouses.
