Give Thanks to God
We have a lot to be thankful for, don't we? Even if you've suffered financially because of the economy, you have security in Christ. Even if your health has taken a setback, you know you can fall in the arms of Christ. Even if a relationship you hold dear has fallen on hard times, you can find peace in Christ. The eighth chapter of Romans gives us so many reasons to be thankful because of what God has done on our behalf through Christ:
And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. (v. 28)
What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us? (v. 31)
He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things? (v. 32)
Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? (v. 35)
But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us. (v. 37)
For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (vv. 38-39).
Wow! This Thanksgiving, don't worry about the food. Don't focus on football.
Don't dwell on Friday's shopping deals. Don't let your mind wander to your problems or frustrations.
Focus on Christ. Think about it, even if God never gave us another good thing, He gave us his Son.
Therefore, He's already given us more than enough. He deserves our worship, praise, and gratitude. After all...
What do we deserve? Hell.
What is He going to give us? Heaven.
God doesn't want to stop giving to you, but even if He did, our salvation would certainly be sufficient. Never forget that His grace and mercy are the secrets to being thankful all year long, not just this Thursday.
Recently in our daily devotion, we asked you to tell us your story of how you became a Christ follower. We got a lot of wonderful responses, and you can read these stories here. Now, we want you to tell your Thanksgiving story. We believe your story will inspire others to be thankful for God's grace through Jesus Christ. He forgave us our sins, He made us His children, and He brought us out of darkness into light.
Let's not just celebrate Thanksgiving. Let's celebrate God, and give him our thanks.
You turned my wailing into dancing;
you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy,
that my heart may sing to you and not be silent.
O LORD my God, I will give you thanks forever.
-Psalm 30:11,12
So, from the staff of Right From the Heart, we wish you a Happy Thanksgiving--all the time!
